FAQ

  • I downloaded the app and the app store says it's installed, but I can't find the icon.

This is not an app problem, and sometimes happens with certain devices.  Power down your device and then power it back up.  The app icon should now be visible.

  • What's the difference between NOAA Now, NOAA Now pro, and NOAA Now free?

NOAA Now pro and NOAA Now for Android are ad-free, paid versions costing $1.99.  NOAA Now free and NOAA Now for iOS are free, supported by ads.  All versions contain the same content.

  • I tried to post to Facebook from the app, but it didn't work. What do I do?

The app will first need to link with your Facebook account, which it will do the first time you attempt to post to Facebook from the app. After that your account will be linked with the app and you will be able to post to Facebook without issue.

  • Will NOAA Now send alerts to my phone?

Not at this time.  You will need to start the application to view the latest information from NOAA.

  • Which mobile devices are supported?

The Apple versions, NOAA Now and NOAA Now pro are universal and will operate on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad running iOS 9 or later.   If you are using an iPhone or iPod Touch, some pages will view better in landscape orientation.  The Android version will run on any phone or tablet running Android 4.2 or later.

  • Loading seems to take a long time.

The latest information is loaded at startup on the Apple platform, and the time taken will depend on the speed of your internet connection.  The NOAA servers are also sometimes heavily loaded, particularly when a major event or emergency is underway such as a hurricane.

  • Why do you want to know my location?

The free versions of NOAA Now and Weather from NOAA use your location and other parameters for marketing purposes to help keep the app free. You can either decline the initial request to share this information, or disable it subsequently in the settings app on your device.
