Most application problems can be solved by either restarting the device or reloading the application from the app store.  If neither of these resolves your problem, and it is not addressed in this FAQ, then please email Support.

FAQ

  • I downloaded the app and the app store says it's installed, but I can't find the icon.

This is not an app problem, and sometimes happens with certain devices.  Power down your device and then power it back up.  The app icon should now be visible.

  • Why do I get a message that says "No connection to the server."?

If you get this message intermittently, it's probably caused by a network glitch or a busy server.  Restarting the app will usually fix it, although you may have to wait a couple of minutes.  If you get this message all the time, your device is probably behind a firewall or connecting through a proxy server or VPN that filters data from the internet.  You will then need to try and establish a clean connection.

  • Can additional content sources be added?

Yes.  Send an email to  Support with the blog you think should be included, with a reason why, and it will be considered for addition.

  • Can I disable individual content sources?

Version 3.0 and later provides for enabling or disabling individual feeds.  In the iOS version this is in the Settings app.  Touch Settings and scroll down to the Primal Feed entry.  Click on this and select which of the feeds you want to receive.  In the Android version it is a menu item within the application.  While in the opening screen, click on the menu button, select "Feed Selection", then choose which feeds you want.  For both the iOS and Android versions, your selection will remain in effect until you change it.

  • Can I search for any text in the feed headers?

Yes, for the iPhone/iPad version.  Any sequence of characters can be included in the search.  Note that if you want to search for a particular word, it's best to precede and follow it with spaces so that only that standalone word is searched for.  Otherwise, larger words with the same sequence of letters will also be included.

  • Why does the screen show "No Results" when I type my search word?

The search does not begin until you press the "Search" button on the keyboard.  Asynchronous search (searching as you type) is turned off to keep the keyboard responsive while you type.  Searching can be a processor-intensive task that would slow the keyboard excessively in an asynchronous search.

  • Which mobile devices are supported?

The iOS version is universal and will run on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.  The Android version will run on any phone or tablet running Android 4.2 or later.

  • How do I share the content on Facebook or by email?

On the page you want to share, press the action button in the top right-hand corner of the page, then select email, Facebook, Twitter or any of the other social networks presented. On the Android version, sharing is by pressing the menu button on the screen you wish to share.

  • Loading seems to take a long time.

All of the RSS feeds are loaded at startup, and the time taken will depend on the speed of your internet connection and the bandwidth provided by each blog server.  Sometimes one or more of those servers may be slow - you can usually identify which ones, since their content pages will also be slow to load.  You can speed up loading by deselecting those feeds from the preference pane - you will also lose access to their content however.
